Albert Hoffmann, known for his work with Island Hill on Bedrock Records, has released his debut solo album, SLOWSTART, on May 7, 2024. This dreamy indie pop album delves into the complexities of seeking purpose in an uncertain world. Blending a multi-genre approach, SLOWSTART transitions seamlessly from ethereal synthscapes to guitar-driven rock, all while maintaining a cohesive thematic sound.
Reflecting on his new single, Hoffmann says, “Sometimes new knowledge and relationships change us in ways that make it hard to connect with our former selves. I aimed to capture this bittersweet experience in ‘Dazzled Eyes.’” The track intertwines soft orchestral synths with resonant guitars, pairing these elements with introspective lyrics that balance nostalgia with the excitement of new discoveries.
SLOWSTART was entirely written, performed, and recorded by Hoffmann in his home studio, with mixing handled by Jamie Stevens.
Currently based in San Jose, Costa Rica, Hoffmann has previously lived and performed in Chicago, Indianapolis, and South Korea. His diverse experiences are evident in the rich, textured soundscapes of his debut album.
