NYC-based singer-songwriter Kristin Pepper has released her sixth single, “Mississippi Save Me,” a lush, cross-genre ballad that fuses folk, chamber pop, and jazz. The track was produced by Mike Abiuso of Behind the Curtains Media, who also recorded, mixed, mastered, and played guitar on the song.
“Mississippi Save Me” is a poignant sonic journey featuring trumpet by Wyatt Pepper and violin by Erin Famous, who also plays electric bass on the track. Wyatt also contributes on piano, with Coleman Breining adding rhythmic depth on drums. Kristin takes the lead on vocals, joined by her sisters Steph Kennedy and Lauren Geber Marquez, whose harmonies add emotional resonance and warmth.
Kristin composed the music and lyrics, and arranged the song for the full ensemble. The track reflects a deeply personal theme: a longing for a place that knows you better than you know yourself. One of her favorite lyrics—“We still make promises we’ve got no way to keep”—beautifully captures the song’s introspective essence.
