Transit Cop Announces Triumphant Return with New EP and First Single in 17 Years

Cheltenham, UK – June 14, 2024 – Indie rock and post-punk band Transit Cop is back with a vengeance, ready to shake the music scene with their new EP “Shake Out Your Sorrow” set to release on October 4, 2024. Following up on their first single “He Brings Trouble” is their much-anticipated second single, “Take What You Want”, dropping today, June 14, 2024. This marks the band’s second new release in 17 years, signalling a powerful comeback for the group.

About Transit Cop: Formed in Cheltenham, Transit Cop is composed of Guy Lewis (lead vocals, guitar), Marcus Attwood (bass guitar and guitar), Andy Brotherton (drums), Russ Mulligan (guitar), and Paul Richards (keyboards and synths). Known for their high-energy performances and distinctive blend of indie rock and post-punk, Transit Cop quickly made a name for themselves with their raw, emotive sound.

Back in 2007, the band was on a rapid rise, playing a slew of sold-out gigs and receiving rave reviews. However, life happened which led to an indefinite hiatus. Despite the break, the band never officially disbanded, always holding onto the hope of reuniting.

The Comeback: Fast forward to today, reflecting on their past material and refining it for a modern audience, Transit Cop have crafted an EP that showcases their growth while staying true to their roots. “He Brings Trouble,” the first of five singles to be released this year, embodies the band’s signature sound – intense, gritty, and unapologetically honest.

A Word from the Band: Guy Lewis reflects on their journey, “Maybe now is the right time? Maybe now that we don’t live in the indie landfill era we used to (when every boy and his brother were in a guitar band), our music will have the chance to cut through the smoke and feedback and shine like it could have.”
