“ Hot on the Tail of Their “Thrilling” Debut Single ‘Gold’, Wiltshire-Based Alt-Rock Band Wild Isles is Amping Up to Release Their Second Crowd-Pleaser, ‘Stand In Silence’”
NMR – Great energy from the kick off with this Punk Pop track, nice pace and tempo, vocal delivery is hot in the mix and sounds really good, guitars are well done giving nice width to the mix, overall a nice release, check it out. .
Hitting Spotify on 1 August 2024, ‘Stand in Silence’ is packed with a plethora of electrifying and polished riffs as the recently formed five-piece – Tom ‘Macca’ McCarthy (lead vocals), DJ Harman (lead guitarist), Ant Willis (guitarist), James Rowland (bass), and Kyle Foote (drums) – provides an anthemic remedy to life’s hardships.
Underpinned by politically driven and environmentally conscious motifs, ‘Stand In Silence’ offers up high-energy guitar riffs that will both excite and captivate listeners. Exploring a state of social unrest felt in today’s social climate, the band’s lyrics are often raw and ominously delivered but the song itself is ultimately tempered by hope for impending change as the chorus belts out “It’s alright, don’t listen, cause change is on the way.” Lyrically catchy and instrumentally invigorating, Wild Isles offers a riotous feel-good escapist track that ignites a sense of camaraderie, optimism, and pure sonic elation.
Speaking on the release of the new single, the band’s lead vocalist, Macca, says: “‘Stand in Silence’ explores how it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, to the point we just feel very dissociative and helpless because things feel so out of our control – from COVID and a cost-of-living crisis, to mad inflation prices and unaffordable housing. This is our tribute to anyone feeling like giving up. We’re all in the same boat, and good things are around the corner! ‘Stand in Silence’ is a high-energy song that aims to rally people together in solidarity for positive change. We wrote this track pre-election, so with the Labour win we’re definitely onto something!”
Commenting on what’s next for the band, he adds: “We’ve played a couple of live shows in our hometown and the reception has been incredible! As close friends, it’s really awesome to be on stage together doing what we love. We’re really looking forward to getting some more live gigs booked and releasing more music – so watch this space!”
With a radio play on Keep It Rock and rave reviews for their debut single ‘Gold’ already under their belt, Wild Isles’ second single is set to raise the bar even higher. Having already offered a taste of ‘Stand in Silence’ to enthralled live audiences, accompanied by a strong setlist of original titles, exciting change is very much on the way for Wild Isles. For fans of Mallory Knox, Young Guns, and Nothing But Thieves, this is a band to watch!

About Wild Isles
What started as a passion project for a group of friends and professional musicians saw the quick formation of five-piece alt-rock band Wild Isles: Tom ‘Macca’ McCarthy (lead vocals), DJ Harman (lead guitarist), Ant Willis (guitarist), James Rowland (bass), and Kyle Foote (drums). Whilst only forming Wild Isles in March 2024, these guys are no new kids on the block with a collective musical career spanning more than three decades.
This new venture was spearheaded by former A Way With Words bandmates Ant, James, and Kyle. In their heyday, the rock band supported the likes of Boston Manor, The Levellers, and Fort Hope and toured across the UK. Still very much active within the music scene, this new venture felt like a natural progression for the group.
All residing in Wiltshire, the band is keen to take Wild Isles out on the live music circuit across the South West – already armed with a gripping setlist compromised of original songs. More politically driven than their other outfits, the band has entered a more mature era in their song and music writing, exploring life after adolescence, social injustice, mental health, and losing friends to suicide. Accompanied by raw and, at times, cut-throat lyrics that are soulfully delivered to balance the electrifying wall of guitar reverbs, Wild Isles is a band you’re going to want to follow!
