The video talks you through how my SEO ( Search Engine Optimisation) is setup for my site in particular, but the principles are similar for any site.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of enhancing a website’s visibility and ranking on search engine results pages (SERPs). This process involves optimizing various aspects of a website to make it more attractive to search engines, thereby increasing organic traffic.

On-Page SEO: This aspect focuses on optimizing individual web pages. Key elements include keyword research and integration, where specific words and phrases that potential visitors are likely to use in their search queries are strategically included in the content. Meta tags, such as title tags and meta descriptions, are crucial as they provide concise information about the page’s content to search engines and users. Additionally, the use of header tags (H1, H2, etc.), internal linking, and ensuring high-quality, relevant content are fundamental to on-page SEO.

Off-Page SEO: This refers to actions taken outside of the actual website to improve its ranking. The most significant off-page SEO factor is backlinks, which are links from other websites to your own. High-quality backlinks from reputable sites signal to search engines that your content is valuable and trustworthy. Social media engagement, guest blogging, and influencer outreach also contribute to off-page SEO by increasing a website’s exposure and authority.

Technical SEO: This involves optimizing the backend of the website to help search engines crawl and index it more effectively. Key aspects include improving site speed, ensuring mobile-friendliness, creating an XML sitemap, and implementing structured data markup. Technical SEO also involves enhancing site architecture and navigation to ensure a seamless user experience, which indirectly boosts search rankings.

SEO is a dynamic field, constantly evolving with changes in search engine algorithms. Staying updated with the latest SEO trends and best practices is essential for maintaining and improving search rankings. Effective SEO requires a holistic approach, combining on-page, off-page, and technical strategies to create a robust online presence and drive organic traffic.
